Having a clean beard really is the foundation of caring for your beard and to do that you'll need a beard shampoo. The problem with using just any old soap or shampoo is that they often strip and dry out you out.  The bottom line is you need a beard wash that is specifically designed for that task. A dedicated beard cleaner  will gently clean and moisturize.

We strive to have the best beard wash on the market while keeping our ingredients as natural as possible. Our formulation cleans and moisturizes so you have a good base for your beard oil , beard balm , and/or moustache wax. It's also great for people with sensitive skin.

Water alone just isn't enough and simply by adding a quality beard cleanser to your routine your beard will be much healthier for it. Cleanliness and health are paramount to beard growth so adding a dedicated shampoo gives your facial hair the fresh start it needs.

-Clean away dirt and germs.
-Prevent the potential excessive buildup of oils either natural or from beard products. Nobody likes a greasy looking beard.
-Soften and condition before you even put on your beard products.
-Remember; Beard Wash for a clean beard, then Beard Oil and/or Beard Balm. Your beard will thank you.

Beard Shampoo is the Best Beard Hygiene Product

WHAT MAKES THE BEST BEARD SHAMPOO?

Lately I've been noticing a great many articles talking about how dirty beards can be and they are right....kinda. If you don't clean and care for a beard then yes, absolutely it can and will be nasty. But, if people don't shower and clean themselves or their hair then they as a whole can be unclean. Same with your mouth, if you don't use basic oral hygiene then your mouth and breath can be unpleasant. Does that mean all people are dirty or have bad oral hygiene? Not at all. Beards are no different than any other part of your body. Take care of it and it'll be clean.
Perhaps there are a few beard owners that have never really though about it or perhaps you are new to having a beard. In reality I think that is a very small percent of people and most people know they should and actually do clean their beard.
The real issue is what makes the best beard hygiene product and why?

REGULAR SOAP AND SHAMPOO

If you didn't guess it, the best product for beard hygiene is a quality soap or shampoo. Everyone is different in how dirty they get their facial hair so how often you need to wash is completely individual. The bottom line is you need to clean it routinely. The problem with using regular soap or shampoo on your beard is that the types of chemicals that get used in their production are damaging to facial hair. The reason for this is that most manufacturers will remove the vital glycerin from the soap and replace it with other not so beneficial synthetics, detergents and harsh chemicals that are bad for you and further contribute to a dry itchy face. They also strip the natural sebum from your facial hair. These are required to keep your beard moisturized and looking alive.

NATURAL SOAP AND SHAMPOO

Instead of stripping away the natural properties of your beard and irritating your skin underneath, natural soap and shampoos do the opposite. They gently clean and moisturize.
If left unchecked the natural secretion of sebum will cause things to look greasy and dirty. You want to keep it in check without stripping it all away. The natural soap will clean but not dry things out. The oils used in its creation are needed to avoid things becoming dry, frizzy, or prone to breakage and split ends.
Another issue is dry skin. Although very difficult to eliminate completely, the moisturizing properties of certain natural oils help to relieve beard itch and beardruff.

WHAT DOES PRIMITIVE OUTPOST OFFER?

Our beard shampoo has been designed with one purpose and that is to clean beards while leaving them thoroughly moisturized. You can use it at the sink to give your beard a quick clean, you can use it in the shower and best of all it can easily double as a body wash  or shampoo if you're in a jam.

We've also made sure that you have the option of scent matching all of your products. Body wash, deodorant, facial hair soap, beard oil and beard balm.

WHY IS OUR BEARD CLEANER SO GOOD?

Our beard wash has been certified over 70% Organic Ingredients by the Soil Association and is free of SLES, SLS, parabens, and sulfates.
The ingredients have been carefully selected due to their beneficial properties.

An important point is our shampoo is Sulfate free.

It has:

NO parabens.
NO mineral oil compounds.
NO (SLS & SLES).
NO PEGS, PPG or DEA.
NO phtahlates.

NO synthetic fragrances. We use only high quality essential oils that once again offer their own unique benefits to your body as opposed to being harmful.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I WASH MY BEARD?

This is all personal preference, some people like 3-4 times per week, others wash every day. Everyone is different so you'll need to find that perfect frequency yourself. Normally you wouldn't want to over do it because over washing can lead to the stripping the natural oils and dry out your beard, but Primitive Outposts washes are extremely nourishing so daily use isn't an issue.

SO WHAT ABOUT CONDITIONING?

Well, once you've towel dried your beard it would be a good idea to comb it out. This will get rid of any snags. A wooden comb is perfect for this.

With a quality natural wash you really don't need a separate conditioner for your beard after shampooing but more conditioning is never a bad thing. We recommend our shampoo (which is conditioning in itself) followed by a beard oil and balm. If a good oil and balm can't condition your beard nothing is going to. These are the best beard care products for conditioning and will make sure you have a soft beard. Apply a small amount of oil ensuring even coverage. Make sure it gets all the way down to your face, it needs it too.
Add in a little beard balm to shape things and your done.

Grooming doesn't need to be difficult which is why we have created a specialized wash that does a superb job keeping your facial hair clean and conditioned. As a bonus we've also designed all of our grooming line to allow you to pair scent in all products. We feel one scent for everything is ideal, so we made it happen.

BOTTOM LINE

So the bottom line is the best beard hygiene product is a quality wash. It should be cleansing and at the same time not strip the much needed natural oils from your beard. I would go as far as saying that it should do the opposite and actually significantly contribute to the conditioning process. If it strips your beard its working against you.

It should also be healthy. We aren't a fan of the many harmful things that get crammed into products these days and feel that a healthy beard starts with a healthy product.

It should smell great (unless you want unscented - which we also have) and in our case we opt for essential oils. Chemical fragrances bring no value to your skin or hair and often cause issues in regards to scent sensitivity. Essential oils are much less likely to cause these sensitivities and bring various benefits to your skin and hair. Win,win.
So with all being said, remember, hygiene is important so wash up and look great!
